CHICAGO -- Antonio Green scored 22 points and Dakota Slaughter added 20 and Texas-Rio Grande Valley defeated Chicago State 89-79 on Sunday.
Shaquille Hines scored 19 points, Christopher Ikuenobe 14, and J.J. Thompson 12 for the Vaqueros (8-20, 4-9 Western Athletic Conference), who hit 11 of 32 3-pointers
Anthony Eaves scored 18 points, Trayvon Palmer 17 and Fred Sims Jr. 12 for the Cougars (4-26, 0-13), who have the nation's longest active losing streak at 17, one more than Boston College and Rutgers.
Both teams have one regular-season game remaining Saturday with the Vaqueros home against New Mexico State and the Cougars hosts to Missouri-Kansas City.
Three-pointers by Slaughter and Hines gave the Vaqueros the lead for good with 17:53 remaining. They took their largest lead of 16 points with 8:27 to go on two free throws by Thompson. Chicago State only got as close as eight after that.
