Grand Canyon rolls over Delaware State 88-59
PHOENIX -- Joshua Braun had 18 points and Keonta Vernon added 15 and grabbed 10 rebounds as Grand Canyon jumped out to an early lead and coasted to an 88-59 victory over winless Delaware State on Tuesday night.
Grand Canyon (8-2) owned a 40-28 halftime advantage, then limited Delaware State to just 3 points in the first six minutes of the second half to ease to victory. The Antelopes recovered from their first loss at home when they dropped a 108-104 overtime decision to Omaha on Sunday.
Ryan Majerle nailed 4 of 7 from long range for 14 points. DeWayne Russell added nine points while dishing out 10 assists.
The Antelopes shot a scorching 70 percent (16-23) from the field in the first half and finished 31-for-56 (55 percent). They also hit 9 of 20 trey attempts.
DeAndre Haywood and Devin Morgan had 14 apiece for Delaware State (0-10).
