Sam Houston State coasts past Abilene Christian, 84-71
ABILENE, Texas -- Aurimas Majauskas scored 18 points and Sam Houston State cruised to an 84-71 win over Abilene Christian on Monday night.
Jovante' Spivey had 15 points and Jamal Williams added 14 points, six rebounds, and five assists for the Bearkats (14-12, 9-4 Southland Conference), who have won three of four.
Sam Houston State shot 49.1 percent from the field and made all 22 of its free-throw attempts.
Jalen Little scored 19 points to lead Abilene Christian (11-14, 6-6). Jaren Lewis added 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Wildcats, who hit 12 3-pointers but were plagued by 14 turnovers.
The Bearkats led by nine at halftime, and quickly jumped out to a 53-37 advantage after a Spivey jumper early in the second. Abilene Christian never managed to get within 10 the rest of the night, and a Williams 3-point play with 4:06 remaining pushed the margin to 20.
