Ali has career high, rallies A&M-CC over Abilene Christian
ABILENE, Texas -- Hameed Ali, who had a career-high 29 points, made six free throws in the final minute to secure victory as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi rallied in the second half to knock off Abilene Christian 74-69 on Saturday.
Ali was 6 of 11 from the floor and 16 of 17 from the line. Bryce Douvier had 18 points and 11 rebounds and Rashawn Thomas added 11 points.
The Islanders (24-6, 15-3), winners of six straight, have secured the No. 2 seed in the Southland Conference tournament.
Abilene Christian got off to a hot start, holding a 38-34 halftime advantage. The Wildcats opened the second half with a 12-3 run to push their advantage to 50-37 at the 13:37 mark.
Ali hit a jumper to start a 23-9 run as Texas A&M-CC took its first lead, 60-59, with 4:16 left following a Douvier jumper.
Jaylen Franklin and Austin Cook had 14 apiece for ACU (13-18, 8-10).
