Walker leads Valparaiso over NAIA Trinity Christian 89-42
VALPARAISO, Ind. -- Darien Walker scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Valparaiso rolled to an 89-42 victory over NAIA Trinity Christian on Thursday night.
Walker was one point shy of his career best, finishing 9 of 17 from the floor. Vashil Fernandez scored 11 points, and Alec Peters and Tevonn Walker chipped in 10 apiece for Valparaiso (5-0).
Jordan Perry scored 17 points and Caleb Jonkman added 10 for Trinity.
Perry made a 3-pointer to pull the Trolls to 27-16 midway through the first half. Fernandez made a layup to spark a 21-11 surge to give the Crusaders a 48-27 halftime lead. Walker scored 6 points during the span.
The Crusaders opened the second half on an 11-0 run before Myles Birgans made a 3-pointer to make it 59-30 with 15 minutes left.
