Owens leads Lamar to 101-58 win over D-III's Austin College
BEAUMONT, Texas -- Marcus Owens had 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead Lamar to a season-opening win over Division III's Austin College 101-58 on Friday night.
Lincoln Davis added 13 points and Nick Garth and LeMon Gregory chipped in 10 apiece as Lamar dominated throughout. Kevin Booze had 8 points and seven assists.
Lamar never trailed and was up 29-10 at the midway point of the first half and had a 58-30 advantage at the break.
The Cardinals scored 54 points in the paint, had 24 points off fast breaks, and finished with 29 points off turnovers.
Lamar shot 32-of-78 from the field while limiting Austin to just 16-of-65 shooting. Lamar dominated on the boards 71-41.
Austin Freet led Austin College with 10 points. Cedric Hudson chipped in 8 points and had two blocks and one steal.
