Canisius beats Nicholls State 83-74 in Las Vegas tournament
LAS VEGAS -- Kassius Robertson scored 20 points and Jermaine Crumpton added 18, combining for 23 in the second half to lead Canisius to an 83-74 win over Nicholls State on Wednesday in the Continental Tires Las Vegas Classic.
The pair combined for 9-of-13 shooting in the second half when the Griffins (6-6) shot 57 percent.
Trailing 41-39 at halftime, Canisius caught the Colonels at 55 on a Phil Valenti 3-pointer with 12:49 to play. Robertson followed with a pair of baskets. Shortly after that, Robertson sandwiched a pair of 3s around a Crumpton jumper to make it 69-58 with 8:02 to play.
The Griffins closed it out with back-to-back 3s from Robertson and Malcolm McMillan in the final 94 seconds.
Ja'Dante' Frye had 17 points and Liam Thomas 16 for Nicholls State (4-8), which shot 45 percent in the second half.
