East Tennessee State Buccaneers vs Furman Paladins
ETSU beats Furman 84-76; advances to SoCon tourney finals
ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Ge'Lawn Guyn hit four 3-pointers and finished with 22 points, and Desonta Bradford scored 15 to help No. 2 seed East Tennessee State beat third-seeded Furman 84-76 Sunday in the semifinals of the Southern Conference tournament.
Isaac Banks added 12 points, on 5-of-6 shooting, and seven rebounds for ETSU (23-10), which will face No. 1 seed Chattanooga (28-5) in the championship game Monday night.
Devin Sibley scored six points during a 9-0 run that pulled Furman (18-15) within 66-60 with 4:52 to play.
The Buccaneers answered with seven-straight points -- capped by a Guyn 3 -- to push their lead to 13 with 3:20 left.
The Paladins trailed by at least two possessions the rest of the way.
ETSU shot 54 percent from the field, including 8 of 15 from 3-point range, and made 24 of 27 foul shots.
Sibley scored a career-high 29 for Furman. Kris Acox added 17 points and 11 rebounds.
