Reyes late putback gives Pepperdine 71-70 victory
MALIBU, Calif. -- Chris Reyes grabbed an offensive rebound and put it back up with two seconds left to give Pepperdine a 71-70 win over Loyola Marymount on Thursday night to end a nine-game losing skid.
Reyes scored seven of his 21 points in the final minute as Pepperdine (5-10, 1-2 West Coast Conference) rallied in the last two minutes to take its first conference win.
Reyes drove for a layup to give the Waves a 69-68 advantage with 32 seconds left. Petr Herman responded with a layup to give Loyola Marymount its last lead, 70-69 with 19 seconds remaining.
Erik Johansson missed a 3-point shot as time expired.
Reyes, who was 8 of 13 from the field, had eight rebounds, two blocks and one steal. Lamond Murray Jr. contributed 19 points and Jeremy Major chipped in 11 for Pepperdine.
Buay Tuach led the Lions (7-7, 0-3) with 18 points.
