Houston beats UT Rio Grande Valley 83-58

HOUSTON -- Damyean Dotson scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Houston beat the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley 83-58 on Saturday night.

It was the third double-double in the last four games for Dotson who was 8 of 13 from the field including six 3-pointers for the Cougars (8-2). Rob Gray Jr. added 16 points and five rebounds, Danrad Knowles had 14 points and Armoni Brooks chipped in 10 off the bench.

A Knowles dunk sparked a 10-0 surge midway through the first half that gave Houston a 26-10 lead with 9:59 to go in the period. Dotson drained three 3-pointers in the final 2:47 to help stretch it to 39-26 at the break.

In the second period, a dunk by Gray made it 60-38 with 11:35 to go and the Cougars cruised to the win.

Antonio Green scored 11 and grabbed five rebounds for the Vaqueros (5-9).
