William & Mary closes the deal on Liberty for a 79-70 win
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Omar Prewitt scored 23 points and William & Mary used a strong close to hold off Liberty 79-70 on Saturday.
Caleb Homesley got Liberty even at 66-66 with a layup with 3:02 to play, but William & Mary answered with a 13-4 run to close out the game.
Daniel Dixon converted a pair of free throws and David Cohn knocked down a 3 to make it 71-66 with 2:03 left. Paul Rowley capped the scoring with a dunk with five seconds left to play.
Prewett was 6 of 12 from the field and converted 9 of 12 from the line to lead the Tribe, which was a collective 22 of 54 from the field, including 7 of 17 from beyond the arc. William & Mary struggled from the line, converting 28 of 41 shots (68.3 percent).
John Dawson scored 15 points to lead four Flames into double-figure scoring.
