Eli Chuha leads New Mexico State past Samford, 58-48
LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Eli Chuha came off the New Mexico State bench to score 16 points and grab 13 rebounds as the Aggies knocked off Samford 58-48 on Wednesday night in the Aggies' first game of the University of San Diego Classic tournament.
Ian Baker knocked down a 3-pointer with a minute left in the first half to send the Aggies into intermission with a 28-24 advantage.
Samford got within two, 44-42, with 5:35 left in the game on Justin Hopkins' free throw. Marlon Jones, Johnathon Wilkins, and Baker each answered with a field goal and the Aggies were home free.
Sidy N'Dir had 10 points for New Mexico State (2-1), which bounced back from a 64-61 loss at Colorado State.
Tristson Chambers had 12 points to lead Samford (1-1).
Samford opened its season Monday at San Diego, where the Bulldogs posted an 83-65 win.
