Cleveland has 21 points, SE Missouri beats Rio Grande Valley
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Antonious Cleveland had 21 points and 10 rebounds to help Southeast Missouri roll over Texas Rio Grande Valley 83-72 on Tuesday night.
Cleveland, who grabbed four offensive boards, also dished out four assists and had two steals. Trey Kellum had 15 points and eight rebounds and Jamaal Calvin was 4 of 5 from beyond the arc to total 14 points for Southeast Missouri State (3-2).
The Redhawks held a 37-32 halftime advantage but fell behind 51-47 midway through the second half. Cleveland and Kellum had back-to-back 3-point plays and Southeast Missouri retook the lead 53-51 at the 8:23 mark. Calvin made a 3-point jumper and the Vaqueros could not close the gap after that.
The Redhawks dominated the boards, pulling down 40 rebounds to 20 for Rio Grande Valley (0-5).
Lew Stallworth was 7 of 11 from the floor for 23 points and had six assists to lead Rio Grande Valley.
