Scott leads Loyola (Md) to 79-66 win over Millersville
BALTIMORE -- KaVaughn Scott scored 14 points and pulled in nine rebounds to lead Loyola (Md) to a 79-66 win over Division II Millersville on Monday night.
James Fives added 13 points, Andrew Kostecka had 11 points and Chancellor Barnard 10 for Loyola (1-1). The Greyhounds shot 55 percent from the field but hit just 3 of 14 from long range.
Tied at 15 midway through the first half, Loyola took the lead for good with back-back buckets from Scott and outscored Millersvile 2-to-1 over the next seven and a half minutes to take a 39-27 advantage into the break. The Greyhounds led by as many as 23 points in the second half.
Millersville had opened strong, getting buckets from Amadou Kaba, Conrad Chambers, Marcus Adkison and Jon Lott to build an 8-2 lead in the game's first six minutes but couldn't hold on.
Adkison's 18 points led four Millersville players in double figures.
