Harvard Crimson @ Massachusetts Minutemen
UMass holds on to beat Harvard on Clark's free throws
AMHERST, Mass. -- Donte Clark scored 29 points and hit 3 of 4 free throws in the final 20 seconds to help Massachusetts beat Harvard 70-66 on Saturday.
Trailing 65-59 with a minute to go, Harvard got a 3-pointer from Corey Johnson and two Seth Towns free throws to cut it to 65-64 with 18 seconds left.
The Crimson then fouled Clark, who made 1 of 2 but managed to corral his own miss, forcing Harvard to send him to the line for two more. The junior guard drilled both for a 68-64 lead and Harvard never recovered.
Zach Lewis added 10 points for the Minutemen (4-1), who shot just 40.4 percent from the field and 6 of 25 from long range but stood strong defensively, holding Harvard to just 36.8 percent.
Towns led the Crimson (1-3) with 17 points. Henry Welsh added 12 points and eight boards.
