Stony Brook pulls away for 83-72 win over UMass-Lowell
STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Roland Nyama scored 19 points on 7-for-13 shooting, Lucas Woodhouse added 16 points while dishing out nine assists and Stony Brook broke away in the second half for an 83-72 win over Massachusetts-Lowell on Monday night.
Tyrell Sturdivant had 11 points for Stony Brook (14-10, 9-2 America East Conference) and UC Iroegbu got 10.
The Seawolves took control early in the second half, getting a 3-pointer from Nyama to spark a 14-5 run and stretch the lead to 57-47 with 12:13 left. A layup from Nyama three minutes later made it 62-52 and Stony Brook led by double figures the rest of the way to pick up its third win in a row.
UMass-Lowell (10-16, 4-7) cut the deficit to 43-42 with two quick buckets to open the second half but that was as close as the River Hawks got.
Jahad Thomas led UMass-Lowell with 24 points on 10-for17 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds.
