Fairleigh Dickinson defeats CCSU 59-47, tied atop Northeast
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Stephan Jiggetts and Darnell Edge each scored 12 points and Fairleigh Dickinson defeated Central Connecticut 59-47 on Saturday and remain in a first-place tie in the Northeast Conference.
After making just 8 of 29 field goals in the first half, Fairleigh Dickinson scored 12 baskets after the break, coming from five points down to outscore CCSU 36-19 over the final 20 minutes.
Ghassan Nehme hit a 3-pointer that put Fairleigh Dickinson (7-10, 5-1) ahead 31-30 and Darian Anderson and Edge also followed with treys as the Knights opened the second half on a 16-4 run to lead 39-32 and never trail again. Nehme finished with nine points, Anderson had six assists.
Mustafa Jones and Tidell Pierre paced the Blue Devils (2-16, 0-6) with 13 points apiece and Austin Nehls added 12. CCSU committed 16 turnovers which Fairleigh Dickinson turned into 16 points.
The Knights are tied atop the NEC with LIU-Brooklyn, which visits FDU on Jan. 21.
