Boykins' 24 pts powers Louisiana Tech past Grambling, 89-55
BOSSIER CITY, La. -- Jacobi Boykins scored 24 points and Louisiana Tech rode 11 3-pointers to an 89-55 rout of crosstown Grambling State on Saturday night in the Shreveport-Bossier Holiday Classic.
The schools, with campus five miles apart, traveled an hour west for the game at CenturyLink Center.
The Bulldogs pulled away late in the first half, taking a 41-26 advantage into intermission, then outscored the Tigers by 19 points over the final 20 minutes.
Boykins was 9-of-14 shooting from the floor and knocked down 6 of 9 shots from beyond the arc.
Jalen Harris hit 7 of 11 shots off the Louisiana Tech (7-4) bench, including 3 of 7 from deep, to add 17 points while Erik McCree and Omar Sherman each added 11 points. The Bulldogs collectively shot 11 of 25 from 3-point range.
Ervin Mitchell paced Grambling State (5-7) with 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field.
