Lee, Mehinti lead UAB to 72-54 win over Western Kentucky
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- William Lee and Tosin Mehinti combined for 36 points to lead UAB to a dominating 72-54 win over Western Kentucky on Thursday night.
Lee, who has scored at least 19 points in three straight games, was 7 of 8 from the floor for 19 with seven rebounds and three assists. Mehinti made 7 of 9 field goal attempts for 17 points.
The Blazers (10-7, 3-1 Conference USA) have won three straight after falling to Middle Tennessee 60-49.
UAB rolled to a 30-20 halftime advantage, pushed that to 61-35 lead midway through the second half, and coasted to the victory.
UAB hit 29 of 57 (51 percent) from the floor while limiting the Hilltoppers to 19-of-54 (35 percent shooting).
Western Kentucky (9-9, 3-2), which has lost two straight, had its five-game win streak snapped on Saturday, losing to Old Dominion 79-67.
Pancake Thomas led the Hilltoppers with 14 points.
