Bethune-Cookman holds off Howard 71-67
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Diamante Lewis had 18 points, eight assists and four steals, Reggie Baker added 13 points, 11 rebounds and four steals, and Bethune-Cookman held off Howard for a 71-67 win on Monday night.
The Wildcats (5-18, 2-7 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) took the lead for good on the opening basket of the second half and had an 11-point lead with eight minutes to go. The Bison (5-19, 2-7) closed within 69-67 with 9 seconds left.
Brandon Tabb hit a pair of free throws for Bethune-Cookman a second later and the Bison missed two 3-point attempts in the final five seconds.
Quinton Forrest and Ulmer Manzie added 10 points each for B-CU.
Charles Williams had 21 points, Damon Collins added 17 and James Miller scored 16 for Howard.
The Wildcats scored the first 10 points and led 21-11 before the Bison had a 20-6 run to lead 31-27 late in the half.
