Ray scores 34 for Kennesaw St, helps Al Skinner get 400 wins
KENNESAW, Ga. -- Kendrick Ray hit seven 3-pointers and scored 34 and Kennesaw State coach Al Skinner earned his 400th career win in a 68-60 win over North Carolina A&T on Thursday.
Ray was 7 of 12 behind the arc, 11 of 24 overall, to finish one back of his career-high in his fourth 30-point game of the season and sixth of his career.
The Owls (4-9) didn't make a basket in the last 2:36 but the Aggies were just 1 of 9 after Sam Hunt's 3-pointer cut the Owls' lead to 54-53 with 6:21 to play.
Johannes Nielsen added 11 points and Aubrey Williams had 10 with 12 rebounds for Kennesaw State, which snapped a four-game losing streak.
Hunt led the Aggies (1-11) with 16 points and Eliel Gonzalez scored 13.
Skinner is in his second season with the Owls after nine seasons at Rhode Island and 13 at Boston College, where he was the national Coach of the Year in 2000-01.
"I'm happy for us as a team," Skinner said after the game. "We were on a little bit of a slide ... hopefully this is the beginning of a winning streak for us."
