Fox's 23 leads Army past American in Patriot opener, 74-58
WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Jordan Fox scored 23 points and Army hit six 3-pointers in the second half to fuel a run that saw the Black Knights outscore American University by 15 points over the final 20 minutes to take a 74-58 victory in a first-round game in the Patriot League tournament.
Army (13-18) advances to play conference champion Bucknell at Lewisburg, Pa., in the first of four quarterfinal games Thursday.
Luke Morrison hit a pair of 3-pointers early in the second half to start a run and Fox added a pair of his own down the stretch. Fox hit five 3s in the game,
7 of 11 shots from the field, and was 4-for-4 from the line. Morrison added 11 points on 4 of 7 shooting, hitting 3 of 5 from deep. Thomas Funk added 11 rebounds.
Delante Jones and Charlie Jones each scored 14 points to lead the Eagles (8-22), who finished their season.
