Friday scores 25 as Abilene Christian rolls 86-68 in opener
ABILENE, Texas -- Led by Jalone Friday's 25 points, four starters scored 12 or more points and Abilene Christian defeated Randall University 86-68 in a season opener on Friday night.
Jaren Lewis and Tevin Foster scored 17 points apiece for Abilene Christian and Jaylen Franklin 12 as the Wildcats broke away from a 39-33 halftime lead with a 47-point second half, shooting 32 of 61 for the game (52.5 percent).
Xavier Hunter's 15 points led Randall University, which competes in the National Christian College Athletic Association.
Abilene Christian opened with a 10-0 run and it was more than six minutes before the Saints got on the board.
The Wildcats also scored the first six points after halftime with a pair of steals by Franklin and another Randall turnover leading to quick layups at the other end by Lewis, Friday and Franklin in the first 1:14.
