Fort Wayne beats UIC 67-51
CHICAGO -- Bryson Scott had 14 of his 19 points in the final 6:20 and Fort Wayne pulled away from UIC for a 67-51 win on Saturday.
Kason Harrell added 11 points and John Konchar had 16 rebounds and five steals to go with six points. The Mastodons (3-1) used a 13-4 run to extend their lead to 65-49 on Scott's layup with 1:31 left.
The Flames (2-2) had an eight-point lead in the middle of the first half and stayed in front for most of the period which ended tied at 25.
Fort Wayne pulled away early in the second half with a 17-6 run to lead 44-33. UIC scored six straight to cut the deficit to five but got no closer.
Both teams struggled with shooting at less than 25 percent from the field after the first 25 minutes. The Mastodons made 13 of their last 21.
