Maine Black Bears @ Central Connecticut Blue Devils
Kohl, Central Connecticut St. cruise to 84-57 win over Maine
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Tyler Kohl had 18 points, a career-high 14 rebounds and six assists to help Central Connecticut State beat Main 84-57 on Wednesday night to snap a three-game skid.
It was Kohl's second career double-double. The guard, a junior transfer, made 2 of 2 from the free-throw line and has hit 17-of-17 free throws over the last five games.
Kohl and Deion Bute each made two layups as CCSU (6-6) took an 8-1 lead, another layup by Kohl gave the Blue Devils a 10-point lead fewer than seven minutes in and his free throws made it 44-28 at halftime. Maine's Aaron Calixte made a layup to open the second half, but the Black Bears would get no closer.
Austin Nehls had 15 points, including three 3-pointers, Bute scored 13 on 6-of-6 shooting and Kashaun Hicks added 10 points for CCSU.
Calixte, the only Maine (3-10) to score in double figures, finished with 16 points. The Black Bears, who came ranked 331st out of 351 Division teams in field-goal percentage (39.7), shot just 27.3 percent, including 6 of 31 (19.4 percent) from 3-point range.
The Blue Devils made 31-of-59 (52.5 percent) field-goal attempts.
