Saunders' career-high 30 leads Wagner in 30-point victory
LORETTO, Pa. -- Romone Saunders scored a career-high 30 points and led hot-shooting Wagner to a 91- 61 victory over Saint Francis (Pennsylvania) on Friday.
Saunders, the first Seahawk to reach 30 points this season, made 12 of 18 shots, including 5 of 8 from the arc, and added seven rebounds. Blake Francis made 6 of 8 3-point attempts and scored 22 points. JoJo Cooper, with eight assists, and Devin Liggeons both scored 10 points for the Seahawks (14-6, 7-2 Northeast Conference), who shot 55 percent, including 52 percent from the 3-point line.
Wagner, which came in tied for first place with Robert Morris and as the NEC's top-ranked scoring offense (82.0 ppg), led 46-33 at halftime behind 18 points from Saunders and 10 by Francis. The lead remained in double figures.
Jamaal King led the Red Flash (11-9, 5-4) with 17 points. Keith Braxton had 13 and Randall Gaskins Jr. 10.
