Colorado St. uses late run to beat Arkansas-Fort Smith 87-73
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Deion James scored 22 points, Prentiss Nixon added 17 and Colorado State rolled to an 87-73 victory over Division II Arkansas-Fort Smith on Tuesday night.
James was 8 of 12 from the floor and grabbed nine rebounds. Nixon was 6-of-14 shooting and made three 3-pointers. J.D. Paige had 14 points and Anthony Bonner chipped in 12 for Colorado State (6-6), which shot 33 of 74 (44.6 percent) from the floor, but missed 18 3-pointers and seven free throws.
Darrion Strong scored 15 points and Chris Crawford had 12 to lead Arkansas-Fort Smith.
Marcus Wallace made two straight 3-pointers and Adam Rivera a layup as part of an 8-0 surge to give the Lions their only lead, 60-58 with 11 minutes left. Colorado State led 65-64 with 7:14 left, and went on a 20-5 run.
It was an exhibition game for Arkansas-Fort Smith, ranked fifth in the NCAA D-II poll.
