NEW ORLEANS -- — Robert Brown III had 24 points, Byron Ireland scored 21 and Nicholls cruised to an 89-77 victory over New Orleans on Monday night.
Brown shot 5 for 10 (4 for 6 from 3-point range) and 10 of 10 from the free-throw line for the Colonels (14-12, 9-4 Southland Conference). Ireland made 6 of 10 shots with three 3-pointers, adding three steals. Diante Smith scored 14.
Carlos Hart led the way for the Privateers (8-19, 3-11) with 20 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Jordan Johnson added 13 points, two steals and two blocks. Jah Short pitched in with 13 points and five steals.
