JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- — Nathan Johnson's 18 points helped Samford defeat East Tennessee State 75-72 on Saturday night.
Johnson shot 6 for 7 (4 for 4 from 3-point range) and 2 of 3 from the free throw line for the Bulldogs (18-3, 7-1 Southern Conference). Jaden Campbell added 12 points while shooting 4 for 9 (0 for 3 from 3-point range) and 4 of 4 from the free throw line, and they also had seven rebounds. Rylan Jones had 10 points and shot 4 for 9, including 2 for 4 from beyond the arc.
Gabe Sisk led the way for the Buccaneers (10-11, 2-6) with 15 points and six rebounds. Ebby Asamoah added 15 points for East Tennessee State. Quimari Peterson also had 12 points and three steals.
Both teams next play Wednesday. Samford hosts Wofford and East Tennessee State goes on the road to play Mercer.
