NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- — Idan Tretout's 14 points helped Iona defeat Canisius 70-58 on Friday night.
Tretout was 5 of 14 shooting (3 for 7 from 3-point range) for the Gaels (8-9, 3-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Wheza Panzo scored 14 points while going 5 of 12 (4 for 11 from 3-point range), and added three steals. Greg Gordon had 13 points and shot 5 of 12 from the field and 3 for 6 from the line.
Frank Mitchell led the Golden Griffins (7-10, 2-5) in scoring, finishing with 13 points and 17 rebounds. Canisius also got 12 points and six rebounds from TJ Gadsden. In addition, Cam Palesse had 12 points.
These two teams both play Sunday. Iona visits Quinnipiac and Canisius visits Saint Peter's.
