Freshman forward Dewan Huell of the Miami men's basketball team won't be suspended after being charged with misdemeanor battery.
Police say he attacked someone who was in his ex-girlfriend's dorm room last week.
"I feel like it's an internal matter," Miami coach Jim Larranaga said, according to the Miami Herald. "Dewan is a great kid. I've gotten to know him better and better since he arrived on campus in June. He knows he made a mistake, and we will handle it internally."
Huell, 19, was arrested by police at Florida International University, where Huell's ex-girlfriend is a student. Court records show Huell was released on $1,500 bond.
Huell was a McDonald's All-American last season at Miami Norland High. He was one of the top-rated recruits in the country. He averaged 16.5 points and 8.7 rebounds per game as a senior.
Huell and the Hurricanes open their season at home on Nov. 11 against Western Carolina.
