The Baltimore Orioles placed left-hander John Means on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a left forearm strain.
Means, 31, exited Wednesday's start against the St. Louis Cardinals due to discomfort after three scoreless innings in a game that was also delayed in the fourth inning by rain.
He is 2-0 with a 2.61 ERA through four starts this season, striking out 16 batters and walking two in 20â…” innings.
Means has made only 10 starts since undergoing Tommy John surgery during the 2022 season.
The Orioles recalled right-hander Jonathan Heasley from Triple-A Norfolk to replace Means on the 26-man roster. Heasley, 27, is 0-1 with a 12.46 ERA in three relief appearances (4â…“ innings) for Baltimore this season.
