The California State Athletic Commission has fined Bellator MMA light heavyweight Tito Ortiz $2,500 for unsportsmanlike behavior following his win over Stephan Bonnar on Saturday in San Diego.
CSAC executive director Andy Foster confirmed the fine to ESPN.com on Monday. Ortiz's reported purse for the 205-pound contest, his second under the Bellator banner, was $300,000.
Ortiz (18-11-1) defeated Bonnar (15-9) via split decision at Bellator 131. After the fight, Ortiz, 39, flipped off Bonnar and his corner. He also threw water in Bonnar's direction after the result.
The two engaged in a war of words prior to the fight and Ortiz even suggested a rematch after it. Bonnar seemed willing to let the rivalry die and stated, "hat's off to Tito" twice in his postfight comments.
