The major takeaway from this weekend was pretty obvious, right? Jon Jones versus Anthony Johnson for the UFC light heavyweight title is going to be a heck of a fight.
In the next six months, Johnson (19-4) will literally spend hours upon hours of his life answering questions. Promoting a fight has become almost as exhausting as preparing for one, and Johnson is about to handle his share of a major effort to create a blockbuster event.
Perhaps the main thing anyone needs to know about this fight, however, might have already been said by Johnson -- at nearly five in the morning local Stockholm time on Sunday morning.
"I think I'll be the hardest puncher [Jones] has ever faced," said Johnson, shortly after he starched Alexander Gustafsson inside one round.
Before news of Jones' positive drug test for cocaine dominated the headlines, there was talk about where the 27-year-old ranked among the greatest fighters of all time.
Part of that discussion involved a potential rematch against Gustafsson, who gave him the stiffest test of his career when he came one round within beating Jones in September 2013.
That was a pretty good plotline to test Jones' greatness, but after watching Johnson on Saturday, I have to say -- this one is better.
Jones, coming off one of the most embarrassing situations of his career, vowing to rededicate himself and deliver something special in his next fight -- facing a formerly shunned, underachieving welterweight, who now possesses legitimate division-altering power? This could end up being the most intriguing chapter in Jones' career yet.
And now, fighter grades from the weekend's UFC card in Stockholm.
