UFC welterweight Josh Koscheck has agreed to a short-notice fight against Erick Silva at a UFC Fight Night event in Rio de Janeiro on March 21.
UFC officials officially announced the bout Friday. Koscheck, 37, is less than two weeks removed from a second-round submission loss to Jake Ellenberger at UFC 184 on Feb. 28.
Koscheck (17-9) has one fight left on his current deal with the UFC. The former title contender has lost four consecutive fights, including back-to-back first-round knockouts in 2013. He was ineffective during his recent loss to Ellenberger, landing just seven strikes in the bout, according to Fightmetric.
The veteran welterweight replaces Silva's original opponent, Ben Saunders, who withdrew due to injury. Silva (17-5) is 5-4 in the UFC, with five finishes in the first round.
A non-title welterweight fight between Demian Maia and Ryan LaFlare will headline the UFC Fight Night event, which takes place at Maracanazinho Gymnasium.
