A UFC welterweight title fight between Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit will headline UFC 195 on Jan. 2 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The bout was originally supposed to head UFC 193 on Nov. 14 in Melbourne, Australia, but Lawler, the defending champion, was forced to pull out of the fight last week because of a thumb injury.
Lawler is expected to make a quick recovery, however, and will now seek his second title defense.
Lawler (26-10), 33, is coming off a grueling five-round fight against Rory MacDonald at UFC 189 in July. Lawler is riding a four-fight winning streak and is the No. 6 pound-for-pound fighter in the world, according to ESPN.com.
Condit (30-8) is just 2-3 in his past five appearances, but his losses have come to top competition: Georges St-Pierre, Johny Hendricks and Tyron Woodley. He returned from a knee injury in May to knock out Thiago Alves in Brazil.
In addition to the main event, the UFC has added a bantamweight bout between Urijah Faber (32-8) and Frankie Saenz (11-2) and a featherweight matchup featuring Max Holloway (14-3) against Jeremy Stephens (24-11).
