A Bellator MMA bantamweight title fight between Marcos Galvao and Eduardo Dantas on Oct. 23 has been postponed for an injury.
Bellator officials announced on Wednesday that Dantas (17-4) had suffered a rib injury during camp. The 135-pound championship fight was supposed to headline Bellator 144 later this month at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
A middleweight title fight between Brandon Halsey (9-0) and Rafael Carvalho (11-1) will now headline the card. The bout, which is for the vacant 185-pound title, had previously been announced for the same date.
Officials did not indicate when the bantamweight title fight will take place. Galvao (17-6-1) will seek his first title defense against Dantas. The two Brazilians are former teammates at Nova Uniao in Rio de Janeiro, They have fought once before, at Bellator 89 in February 2013. Dantas won via knockout in the second round.
