A rematch for the Bellator MMA bantamweight title set for this week has been canceled, as defending champion Marcos Galvao has been ruled out with a lingering illness.
Galvao was scheduled to defend the 135-pound title against Eduardo Dantas on Friday in Mulvane, Kansas. Bellator officials announced Thursday morning the bout was off. It will be rescheduled.
A nontitle heavyweight fight between Cheick Kongo (23-10-2) and Vinicius Queiroz (8-3) will now headline Bellator 150, which will air on Spike TV.
It's the second time a rematch between Galvao (17-6-1) and Dantas (17-4) has fallen through. The two were supposed to meet for a second time in October, but Dantas withdrew with an injury.
The former teammates fought for the Bellator title in February 2013. Dantas won via second-round knockout.
