Bellator MMA featherweight Jordan Parsons was the victim of a hit-and-run Saturday evening in south Florida, according to promotional officials.
Parsons, 25, remains hospitalized with injuries suffered during the incident, which took place at Lindell Boulevard and South Federal Highway in Delray Beach.
"Bellator has been informed of a terrible accident that occurred last night involving featherweight Jordan Parsons, who was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident," Bellator said in a statement. "We are still in the process of uncovering details and, with his family's consent, hope to have an update on his medical condition soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jordan and his family as he recovers."
UFC veteran Rashad Evans, a teammate of Parsons' at Blackzilians in Boca Raton, Florida, wrote on social media Sunday that Parsons was "fighting for his life."
A Michigan native, Parsons (11-2) has accumulated a 2-1 Bellator record since he signed with the promotion in 2014. He had been scheduled to fight Adam Piccolotti on the televised portion of Bellator 154 on May 14 in San Jose.
