Kevin Ferguson Jr., aka "Baby Slice," will not make his planned professional mixed martial arts debut this week due to a knee injury.
Ferguson, son of the late Kimbo Slice, was scheduled to fight Jonathan Tomasian at Bellator 160 on Friday in Anaheim, Californa. Sources confirmed to ESPN.com the 24-year-old has pulled from the welterweight bout. MMAFighting.com first reported Ferguson's withdrawal.
Fighting out of Southern California, Ferguson suffered an MCL injury but is expected to avoid surgery. He has one amateur fight under his belt, a first-round knockout win in March.
Originally from Miami, Ferguson attended art school in California before electing to pursue a fight career in 2016. Bellator MMA announced it had signed Ferguson to a contract last month.
In a recent appearance on ESPN's Five Rounds podcast, Ferguson said he's embracing his family's history and is excited to carry on the legacy of his father, who passed away suddenly in June due to heart failure. He was 42.
