A female strawweight fight between Paige VanZant and Michelle Waterson will headline UFC Fight Night on Dec. 17 in Sacramento, California.
UFC president Dana White announced the fight on "UFC Tonight" on Wednesday.
The televised event will take place inside Golden 1 Center.
VanZant (7-2) is coming off the loudest win of her career, a second-round knockout over Bec Rawlings in August. The 22-year-old strawweight, who fights out of Sacramento, was coming off a high-profile appearance on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars."
Now 4-1 in the UFC, VanZant will look to take one step closer to title contention. Her only loss in the Octagon came to highly ranked Rose Namajunas late last year.
Waterson (13-4) has already tasted championship status, as she is the former 105-pound atomweight champion of all-female promotion Invicta FC.
Fighting out of Jackson-Wink MMA in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Waterson made a highly anticipated UFC debut in July 2015, but she has been inactive since then due to a knee injury. The 30-year-old won her UFC debut via rear-naked choke over Angela Magana.
