A welterweight fight between Demian Maia and Jorge Masvidal is officially booked for UFC 211 on May 13 in Dallas.
UFC officials confirmed the matchup to ESPN.com on Tuesday, following an initial report by MMAJunkie.com. The UFC 211 pay-per-view will take place inside American Airlines Center.
The news comes just four days before a welterweight title fight between Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson is scheduled to headline UFC 209 inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
For Maia (24-6), it's another step in an already lengthy 170-pound title run. The 39-year-old Brazilian is currently riding a six-fight win streak, which includes submission victories over Carlos Condit, Matt Brown and Neil Magny.
Maia's title aspirations received some bad luck last November, when a championship fight between Woodley and Thompson at UFC 205 ended in a majority draw. The result set the stage for an immediate rematch.
Masvidal (32-11) is on fire as of late, including a knockout victory over Donald Cerrone in January. The former lightweight is on a three-fight win streak and has been outspoken on social media for big fights, following back-to-back knockout wins.
The 32-year-old Masvidal fights out of American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida.
A heavyweight title fight between Stipe Miocic (16-2) and Junior dos Santos (18-4) is scheduled to headline UFC 211. The card also features a strawweight title fight between Joanna Jedrzejczyk (13-0) and Jessica Andrade (18-5).
