LJ Cryer hits five 3s as Warriors top Knicks


LJ Cryer scored 17 points, hitting five 3-pointers, to lead the Golden State Warriors to an 87-77 victory over the New York Knicks in NBA summer league play Thursday at the Pavilion in Las Vegas.

Warriors first-round draft pick Yaxel Lendeborg (No. 11) had three points on 1-for-9 shooting, a game-high six assists, six rebounds and two blocks. Graham Ike posted 15 points and nine rebounds, while Malevy Leons and second-round pick Lajae Jones added 13 points apiece. 

For the Knicks, Jaden Akins came off the bench to lead all scorers with 21 points on 9-of-20 shooting. Liam Robbins finished with 13 points, nine rebounds and four blocks. Second-round pick Tyler Nickel added nine points, all from beyond the arc, and fellow second-rounder Jack Kayil had four points and four assists.

Golden State jumped out to a 26-19 lead after the first quarter. New York battled back in the second, tying the score at 36-36 on a 3-pointer from Nickel with 1:05 remaining in the half. However, the Warriors regained control after the break with a 29-21 third quarter.
