MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Speedy Claxton lived up to his nickname.

Racing past a trio of Memphis point guards, Claxton scored a

career-high 28 points and handed out seven assists Wednesday night

to lead the Warriors to a 99-92 victory that snapped the Memphis

Grizzlies' five-game winning streak.

"I came in with a stronger mind-set, and was mentally

focused," Claxton said. "I wanted this game bad."

It was a sloppy affair with 29 turnovers and 62 fouls -- 31 on

each team. Four players fouled out, and Memphis coach Hubie Brown

was ejected for two of the seven technical fouls that were called

in the game, five on the Grizzlies.

"(Five) technicals is definitely uncharacteristic for our team

and definitely hurt us," Brown said.

The Warriors pulled away in the fourth, a period in which the

Grizzlies have played well this season -- particularly at home.

Claxton, who had been struggling with a sprained right thumb,

shot only 6-of-18 from the field but was 16-of-18 from the line.

Jason Richardson added 24 points, while Erick Dampier, controlling

the inside as he has in all three meetings with the Grizzlies,

scored 14 points and grabbed 18 rebounds. The Warriors' victory

came after a 107-96 loss at Indiana on Tuesday night.

"It's not easy playing back-to-back in this league, especially

against a very good, hot Memphis team," Warriors coach Eric

Musselman said. "...We knew it was going to be physical. They're a

team that is playing with confidence, and they are playing in their

building, so, yeah, we knew it was going to be physical."

James Posey led Memphis with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Lorenzen

Wright and Bonzi Wells scored 14 each, and Shane Battier had 12 off

the bench. Leading scorer Pau Gasol was held to 11 points on 3-of-9

shooting.

Memphis came out flat and was down by 13 in the first half.

Claxton was driving past the Grizzlies' point guards, Dampier was

controlling the boards and Richardson missed only one of his first

five shots.

"We were a little lethargic," Battier said. "I don't know how

to explain it. We just didn't have the energy to make the plays to

win this game."

The Grizzlies were able to fight back in the second quarter as a

12-0 run got them within one. They would eventually take a 48-46

lead into the locker room.

In the third, the Grizzlies started drawing technicals. Wells

got one for arguing, leading him to take a seat in the front row

rather than continue the debate. Eleven seconds later, Wright and

Posey got technicals. The ensuing free throws were part of 11

straight points by Golden State, helping the Warriors take a 71-69

lead into the final period.

"We had the lead (at six) and in three possessions they scored

11 points with all of those technicals that happened," Brown

since Dec. 19, and appeared in only his third game of the season,

entering in the second period. He ended up playing 14 minutes after

starting G Jason Williams didn't play in the second half because of

stomach problems. ... Brown drew a technical from referee Joey

Crawford for arguing Gasol's third foul. Crawford also got Brown in

the fourth, sending the Memphis coach to the dressing room with

6:14 left. ... Warriors swingman Calbert Cheaney also got a

technical for arguing his fourth foul, and had to be restrained and

pulled back toward the bench by Mike Dunleavy. ... Dampier now has

31 double-doubles. His rebound total included eight offensive

boards. He has at least 15 rebounds in all three meetings with

Memphis this season. ... Posey has scored 20 or more points in

three straight games and is averaging almost 22 points over the

last five.
