NEW ORLEANS -- Pelicans guard Tyreke Evans had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Tuesday.
The club said the operation was "successful," but the Pelicans are not yet providing a timetable for Evans' return.
The 6-foot-6 Evans, who is expected to serve as starting point guard this season under new coach Alvin Gentry, averaged 16.6 points, 6.6 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game last season.
Selected fourth out of Memphis by Sacramento in the 2009 NBA draft, Evans has averaged 16.8 points, 5.2 assists and 4.9 rebounds in his career. He played in two preseason games, and averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
