"Dear Basketball," a short film by retired Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant and veteran Disney animator Glen Keane, has been nominated for an Academy Award.
The film was one of five nominated in the animated short category on Tuesday.
Bryant tweeted that he was honored the film was nominated.

"Dear Basketball" was inspired by a retirement poem Bryant wrote that appeared in The Players' Tribune. Bryant narrates the film.
The Academy Awards will be announced on Sunday, March 4 on ABC.
