The Memphis Grizzlies and guard Jordan Hawkins have agreed to part ways via waivers, allowing the 2023 lottery pick to find a new home in free agency, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
The move comes three weeks after arriving as part of a four-player trade with the New Orleans Pelicans for AJ Johnson and Taj Gibson.
Hawkins, 24, averaged 5.1 points in 51 games last season and struggled to find consistent playing time in New Orleans' crowded backcourt rotation. The former UConn star played just 13.6 minutes per game, a significant decrease from the 2024-25 season, when he played 23.6 minutes per game and averaged 10.8 points per game.
Hawkins, a perimeter shooter, was selected 14th by the Pelicans in the 2023 draft, two years before a regime change that saw Joe Dumars replace David Griffin as basketball operations chief.
