Could you imagine Kevin Garnett, even at 40 years old, playing alongside LeBron James?
Apparently, Cleveland Cavaliers coach and longtime KG pal Tyronn Lue thought about it briefly.
On the NBA Lockdown podcast, Lue told ESPN's Dave McMenamin that the second-year coach reached out to the 15-time All-Star about possibly joining the Cavaliers after Andrew Bogut suffered a season-ending leg injury in March.
"I was like, 'Man, you should come back and play for me.' He was like, 'Man, you all have a lot going on over there,'" Lue said. "[Garnett] was like, 'If you and [James] Posey were still playing, I would come.'"
Obviously, Lue's playing days are behind him, so Garnett said he wouldn't come out of retirement for a playoff run.
"'Ah, I'm going to sit this one out," he said, according to Lue.
To which Lue responded, "OK. We'll call you next year."
Garnett retired after the 2015-16 season, his 21st in the NBA.
