News: 3 days agoDarnold (hip) received "really, really good news" regarding his injury, according to coach Mike McDonald, ESPN.com reports. "His hip is intact, and it's good," McDonald said Thursday.

Spin: Darnold underwent testing for his hip injury suffered in the season opener, including an initial CT scan followed by an MRI. The results are encouraging, as Darnold is believed to have "dodged a bullet" and is only expected to miss minimal time. An appearance for Darnold in Week 2 does not look likely at this stage, but the Week 3 game against the Commanders on Sunday, Sept. 27 is an optimistic but possible return date. Per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, Darnold is primarily dealing with hip soreness.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Darnold's first season with the Super Bowl champion Seahawks couldn't have gone much better from a real-life standpoint, but it simply didn't translate to much fantasy success. Despite finishing fifth in the NFL in passing yards for the second season in a row, Darnold finished 27th in fantasy points per game. He was very boom or bust, delivering seven top-10 weeks but also nine finishes outside the top 20. Turnovers (15 INTs were second most in the NFL) and a lack of rushing were the culprits. The 29-year-old will have a new playcaller in Brian Fleury, but otherwise it's roughly the status quo offensively. Darnold is no more than a fringe QB2 with a limited ceiling.
