News: 17 hours agoMitchell turned two carries into four yards, failed to haul in his lone target and returned four kickoffs for 87 yards during Sunday's 22-6 loss to the Chiefs.

Spin: Week 6 was the lowest usage Mitchell has seen this season, and his 17 snaps on offense were third-most among Chargers running backs behind Omarion Hampton (34) and Kimani Vidal (25). Through six regular-season games, Mitchell has turned 35 carries into 139 yards and added 12 catches (on 15 targets) for 52 yards and a score, but it's hard to put much trust into any of the Chargers skill position players given the team's poor start to the season. Perhaps the Week 7 bye will help the Chargers right the ship, with their next game taking place in Week 8 against the Rams on Sunday, Nov. 1.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Mitchell signed with the Chargers after spending his first three NFL seasons with Baltimore. The 2023 UDFA will compete with Kimani Vidal for change-of-pace touches behind starter Omarion Hampton. Mitchell has been limited to 140 touches over his first three NFL seasons, but he has been extremely productive when called upon. His career 6.34 yards per carry ranks second and his 2.50 YAC fourth among 89 backs with 100-plus carries since 2023. He has also put up 184 yards on 23 targets (8.0 YPT). Mitchell is on the small side, so his ceiling is likely capped (he has never cleared 11 touches in a game), but the 24-year-old would be worth adding should Hampton miss time.
